significant numbers

first of all i met two gentlemen last year in the same volleyball team and there they are, one of em, Ping, 35, married and father of two, lecturer in the law school......etc; the other, James, 32, not married but preparing to get married, PhD student that will finish his thesis very soon. knowing this two gentlemen i dare say, first of all it's my great pleasure, they are very nice people, looking at their lives makes me wanna look back at my own. cuz james lives his life like there's no tomorrow, haha he's always in a hurry, like the people rushing for the last train or bus, enjoying his very last bits of "youthness" hahaha............ Ping on the other end lives for his children's tomorrow, what more to say when you have 2 kids...

there was this evening, after a volleyball session Ping asked me whether i want to go to his place for a beer and that sentence doesn't end with a question mark of course. haha..... his daughter joined us(she's only 3) and she looks the happiest person of that night. all of a sudden Ping said something like this," 看这小孩多快乐, 长大后就什么都不记得了..." true. every single person that has became a parent would hope that the kids remember them from the very moment they were born. sadly they can't. i, at best can only remember what happened from about 10 years ago onwards. so well, i should mark it down before i forget it some time later. i start from 15 not cuz i am 25 now but that's because 15 was the age my life started to get spiced up, here and there.

15 and 16, the two most significant numbers in my life(till now) i name. that was the age when my ranking in the class came from much bigger than my age to almost insignificantly little when compared to the same item. i was ranked at 26 in my class when i was 15, and 1,2... when i was 16. but when i was 17 i stood steadily at 1. haha....... "proud"

till now i still dont really understand what did really took me from 20+ to 1 in the rankings and all that changed only in such a short time. only one big change took place in that year which i can recall, that was a year which only dad was at home cuz mom went to further her masters course so i only get to see mom in the weekends. i guess altho i wasn't sure what was i thinking then, but i am sure it has to do with the strong desire in me to do both my parents proud. my mom calls my dad a superman cuz he did taken care of all 3 of us(brothers) at home and even more, that year was exactly when my bro went into the university, guess i was thinking i must do well to answer all the expectations my parents have put on me and in me; my mom's part guess i was thinking that, well, she's studying too and let's stretch our brain cells a bit, sounds cool hah.. haha.... ...

between 16 and 17 i turned from a fei zai to a monkey, huge shoulders small waist and huge thighs and legs.. huge means the proportion.. my chest was 42 then and my waist 28 omg.... hahaha........

18.

full stop there means something. i'd certainly like to live a <18 till i die> life but unfortunately i couldn't. and full stop means there isn't much to tell after what have i said. anyway, i did wonder why Bryan Adams chosed 18 the number to be fixed with the "till i die" and why not 19. but as a malaysian student i guess i can myself answer that question with ease. 18 was the year to get my ass off the secondary school and look for what i want, and at the very same time i dont know what i want yet that's the fun part, but at least i am free from having to wear school uniform everyday and having to obey some rules that are totally unnecessary set by some people that dont know what are they doing and who are they dealing with. for example, a totally unnecessary rule that i find in my school rule book, wearing a neck tie all the time. come on you crazy people, malaysia we are living in and as if we've got air-cond in the class room!!! the second even worse and i classify as STUPID rule is we can only switch on the fan after 9am, to save electricity, when 8 am is the time we start boiling already. WTF....

fine, so 18 was when i started to feel free. but not for long, i was freed from a cage but to realised that the cage lives in a bigger cage. so i am now stucked in a bigger cage. haha..... that was the age when i start to understand that age does make a difference in how we think. there certainly are lots of things that takes our increasing age to know and to understand, and, but, knowing and understanding them might do you no good. developed my interest in arts, art of speech(realised my potential to give lectures for hours and the main point only comes in the end, haha i'll talk about that in some other episodes).

19 was a good number, and 20 turned to be an even better one. i have got to know a lot of good friends that i can live with and i have realised that i am doing something in my interest. my studies.

21 wasn't good. but the last day of 21 was sweet... a bunch of juniors made me a dinner and bought a cake for me.

22?? it's not yet time to conclude anything. but i started to realise the importance of history. for an example, why do we show our middle fingers to somebody when we are mad at them and why would they think we are rude?? haha...... but actually history that i am interested in, abovementioned are mainly my story i mean, so if someone meet me when i am 30, i didn't came just like that, i have 30 years of story behind me, and that's why i am what i am. that's boring i know....

last but not least if you noticed my title of the post, significant numbers mean my age here. every single count of it is significant.
